Henry Madden Library
Friday, September 14, 2018
Open Access is the immediate and free online availability of research to all.  Sitting at the intersections of equity, scholarly communications, social justice, and innovation, please join us for timely conversations, workshops, and resources around "open" scholarship and why it matters to Fresno State. Attendees will be eligible to apply for one of four $1500 Author Publishing Charge mini-grants (APCs). The symposium will take place Friday, September 14, 2018, from 9a- 3p in the Table Mountain Reading Room. A light breakfast and lunch will provided. For any questions, please contact Britt Foster at

If you are using OERs and/or low-cost materials in your courses to save our students money, we’d love to recognize your efforts

Part of the Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$) Program. "Be A Hero" enables faculty to choose and provide quality educational content that is more affordable for our students. The mission of the campaign is to make higher education more accessible to students by promoting the use of high-quality, free (OER) and low-costing learning materials.

Every dollar counts for many students. If students cannot afford the assigned class materials, they may try to learn without them.

This means that students are not only choosing not to purchase the materials they are assigned by their professor, but they are knowingly accepting the risk of a lower grade to avoid paying for the textbook.
