Wildfire Impact

Message to Faculty

[ September 7, 2020, 10:12 AM ]

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

We continue to monitor the fires and hope that no harm comes to you, our students, or our staff. We all understand that the fires add another layer of stress to an already uncertain time, and we remain hopeful that our campus community will be safe during these events.

If you or your students are affected by the fires, please fill out this Wildfire Impact Form.

Your students will receive a message this morning from Acting Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Carolyn Coon, alerting them of resources available to them if they’re affected. If you have students who are affected, we ask that you be as flexible as possible with options for completing coursework. As for any emergency a student might face that impacts course completion, a compassionate, case-by-case approach will allow you to determine which of the available protocols (an extension, incomplete, etc.) is most appropriate for their situation.

Likewise for you: If you’re affected by the fires in any way, please fill out the WildFire Impact Form, and reach out to Marsha Baum (baum@csufresno.edu), so that we may explore all avenues available to us to assist you.

For timely updates, please check your Fresno State email regularly, and see updates on http://www.fresnostate.edu/alert and on the University’s primary Twitter and Instagram accounts.

We remain committed to your safety and wellbeing, and to the noble mission that your transformative teaching brings to our students.

Best Regards,

Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
