Degrees and Programs
At Fresno State University, Theatre Arts and Dance students work side-by-side with faculty and staff to create exciting, dynamic, and diverse productions. Each student enjoys a great deal of individual attention from the faculty and staff, and through this close collaboration, students not only develop their talents but also learn to work well under pressure as part of a team.
The Theatre Arts faculty and staff includes performers, directors, and designers with top academic credentials, as well as professional credits. The department is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
But the most important element in the department’s success is the students. Fresno State undergraduates enjoy unusual opportunities to play leading roles, to direct, and to design for lab and mainstage productions. Organizations such as the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival and the American College Dance Association have honored numerous Fresno State students.
Students participate in a program that produces nearly a dozen productions a year
and offers a wide range of theatrical coursework including; six mainstage productions, The Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Theatre for Young Audiences Tour, University Dance Theatre, The Experimental Theatre Company, Latinx Theatre, African-American Theatre, Physical Theatre, and Musical Theatre.
Working together, students, faculty, and staff have created shows that have won regional, national, and international honors.
