2016 Homeless Point In Time Count

The Fresno Madera Continuum of Care (FMCoc) is conducting a 2016 Point-In-Time (PIT) count to identify the housing and service needs of the sheltered and unsheltered homeless population in our community. Wawona Mentor Program

Wasona Mentor Program is a site-based program held during student lunchtime. Mentors meet their individual student once per week for about 45 minutes on campus. The mentor must be reliable and able to commit to the entire academic year. Mentor time can be spent playing games, walking the campus, reading, or simply talking while eating lunch together.

Sioux YMCA

Thank you for your interest in the Sioux YMCA’s long term volunteer and unpaid internship program. Long term volunteers and interns are a valuable asset to our team. While you will be under direction from our staff, our program gives you freedom to develop service projects and community outreach programs as well. As part of the team, be prepared to wear many hats! The Sioux YMCA is a very small organization with many responsibilities and programs within communities throughout the reservation. The Sioux YMCA believes in working with community members rather than doing for. By working with community members we establish sustainable programs and change; we can empower. With this in mind, your work will inevitably grow slowly. Don’t expect change fast. Be patient and open to new ideas. Even more importantly, be flexible.

CDA Cares Foundation

CDA Cares allows volunteer dentists, with the assistance of other health professionals and community volunteers, to provide dental services at no charge to approximately 2,000 people at each bi-annual event. Put your compassion into action at CDA Cares Fresno. Each CDA Cares event relies on the time and talents of hundreds of volunteers from both the dental profession and the greater community. Dental and health professionals including general dentists, oral surgeons, hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, physicians, nurses and pharmacists are needed throughout the clinic. Community volunteers are needed to register patients and volunteers, to help set up, enter treatment data, escort patients, interpret and more.

HandsOn Central California Classroom Volunteer

HandsOn Central has recently teamed up with AmeriCorps VISTA and local elementary schools to advance the Birth through Third Grade program here in Fresno. The program uses concentrated
education to fight concentrated poverty. It does this by utilization of a
volunteer program to aid teachers during classroom literacy hours. As this social service program continues to cultivate in the communities served, the program is expanding and in need of volunteers and interns to aid in filling more classrooms within the city. Our program provides hand on training and networking opportunities for its volunteers. We do require a semester commitment and run a background check on all applicants,
