Advising and Resources Center

Supporting All Students for

Success

The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) Advising and Resources Center (ARC) is an innovative academic program designed to improve “student success” – a primary mission of Fresno State. ARC is comprised of professional advisor/counselors, counseling interns, peer advisors, and clerical staff who are all committed to supporting students and to helping them achieve success by:

  • Establishing a positive relationship with students, faculty, and staff based upon trust and respect - maintaining a positive regard for all individuals;
  • Being readily available to assist all CSM students throughout the entire year;
  • Maintaining and providing accurate information about the various majors under the College of Science and Mathematics;
  • Assisting students to access available academic resources;
  • Developing programs (i.e. workshops, STEM career fairs, and parent conferences) that will enhance the student academic experience as well as career preparation;
  • Working together with our faculty to assure student success;
  • Valuing the diversity of our student population;
  • Maintaining ethical practices;
  • Proactively assisting students who may be “at risk” (i.e. directing them to use tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other resources) within their respective majors;
  • Implementing best practices in advising;
  • Building, maintaining, and nurturing a dynamic community of students, faculty, and staff; and
  • Working in collaboration with all CSM departments and across-campus student services to improve or enhance the coordination of services.
