We are pleased that you are interested in becoming a volunteer MASS peer mentor to support our first-year freshmen within the College of Science and Mathematics. We anticipate that you will find many rewards as you begin your journey in the MASS peer mentor program. MASS is looking forward to the upcoming year and the contributions that you will be able to provide as a peer mentor.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Applicant must be enrolled in at least six (6) units as a student at California State University, Fresno for the 2020/2021 academic year

• Applicant must be majoring in one of the College of Science and Mathematics’ degree programs (exceptions will be made on a case by case basis)

• Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 (exceptions will be made on a case by case basis)

• Applicant must be a junior, senior, or graduate student level (exceptions will be made on a case by case basis)

• Applicant with customer service related skills and knowledge of web-based applications are preferred, but not required 

• Applicant must have the ability to:                                      

              • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing 

              • Work effectively with a diverse student population 

              • Work efficiently in a multi-task environment 

              • Work politely and effectively with others 

              • Maintain confidentiality

Duties and Responsibilities as a MASS Peer Mentor: 

• Attend a required training in the beginning of August 2020

• Attend required 1x1 & group meetings with supervisors

• Support and assist their assigned freshmen students during the 2020/2021 academic year

• Document student sessions in Bulldog Connect

• Submit required documents in a timely manner

• Effectively communicate with supervisors
