Spring 2020 Undergraduate Admissions Announcement
California State University, Fresno is accepting admission applications from local and non-local upper-division transfer applicants for Spring 2020.
Fresno State is committed to our region and gives priority to our local applicants. Non-local applicants must anticipate meeting higher admission standards.
The application filing period is August 1 – August 31, 2019. Students can apply online at https://www.calstate.edu/apply. Official electronic transcripts from all institutions attended and official AP or IB test scores, if applicable, must be received by the Admissions and Recruitment Office by Friday, September 13, 2019.
CSU Eligibility Requirements
Transfer applicants must first meet the California State University (CSU Eligibility) requirements for admission. Applicants are then reviewed for conditional admission through Fresno State’s admission selection process, called Impaction.
Admission Selection Process (Impaction)
Fresno State is an impacted campus for upper-division transfers. This means admission to Fresno State is competitive because Fresno State continues to receive more qualified applicants than can be accommodated by state funding.
In order to ensure capacity is not exceeded, a more rigorous standard is applied to the transfer application pool. This means meeting the minimum CSU eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to Fresno State.
Due to impaction, the GPA requirement will not be determined until after the application filing period ends. It will be based on the number of applications received the competitiveness of the pool and the number of enrollment spaces available. Applicants must meet this requirement with all transferable grades through summer 2019. Students who do not meet the requirement at the time of review will NOT be considered for admission. Students who meet it can use fall 2019 in-progress courses to ensure the Golden 4 GE areas and/or 60 transferable unit minimum are met.
Applicants who have earned or will be earning an ADT degree (SB1440) by the end of fall 2019, who have a similar/matching major at Fresno State, will receive a 0.1 GPA bump to assist in meeting the GPA threshold during the Admission Selection Process.
Please note: All required admission documents must be received by the Admissions and Recruitment Office by Friday, September 13, 2019. Extensions will NOT be made to the deadline. Students can access information regarding spring admission and document deadlines at http://fresnostate.edu/are.
